Actor Sunny Deol, set to portray Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic Ramayana, has expressed excitement and a hint of nervousness about taking on the role.
In a conversation with Zoom, Sunny described the experience as “exciting” and “fun,” while also acknowledging the challenge of bringing such an iconic character to life.
He added, “Nervousness or fear is part of it, but that’s also the beauty of it. You have to find within yourself how to take up the challenge and live up to it. I’m confident the producer Amit and the team are doing a great job.”
Sunny also praised his co-star Ranbir Kapoor, who will play Lord Ram, saying, “He’s a fine actor who completely immerses himself in every project. I’m sure our collaboration will be amazing.”
The actor hopes the film’s visual effects and supernatural elements will match Hollywood standards. “When it comes to the big screen, the actors involved will ensure the audience enjoys a satisfying experience,” he added.
Reports indicate that Sunny will have under half an hour of screen time in Part 1, with Hanuman appearing toward the end to promise support to Lord Ram in rescuing Goddess Sita. His role will expand in Ramayana: Part 2.
Ramayana also stars Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The first part is scheduled for release on Diwali 2026, while the second installment will hit theatres in Diwali 2027.
