On December 19, 2025, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir, convicted Sri Sahu Meher, Former Amin (Retired) under Tarva Tahasil, Subarnapur district, in a bribery case.
Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted him under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe during land plot demarcation.
The court sentenced Meher to four years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine. Following the judgment, authorities sent him to jail to serve his sentence.
Odisha Vigilance confirmed that it will move the competent authority to stop Meher’s pension benefits in light of his conviction. Officials emphasised that the case reflects the department’s commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring accountability in land administration.
