In a shocking incident early Saturday morning, stones were pelted at the Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express, leading to the shattering of a windowpane in the B-7 AC coach and leaving passengers shaken.
The attack occurred between Rengali and Jharsuguda railway stations at approximately 5:30 AM.
According to railway sources, the impact was severe, with shards of broken glass covering the passenger seated at position 15. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang, causing panic inside the compartment. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has since initiated an investigation, collecting CCTV footage and eyewitness statements to identify the culprits behind the attack.
This latest stone-pelting episode is part of a troubling trend affecting long-distance trains across India. Similar incidents targeting the Dakshinvihar Express and the Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express have sparked concerns about railway safety. Authorities are evaluating measures to prevent such occurrences, ensuring safer travel for passengers.
