Cuttack: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday nabbed a gunrunner and seized four illegal firearms from his possession.
On the basis of intelligence input regarding illegal possession and sale of firearms by a veteran criminal Sanjay Kumar Sahoo of Cuttack District, who has been involved in multiple cases, a team of STF officers with the help of Commissionerate Police intercepted the accused person near Acharya Vihar in Bhubaneswar.
During search, arms and ammunitions including one 9 mm automatic country-made pistol with magazine, one Revolver, two SBML Guns, six 9 MM live bullets, two 8 MM live bullets and three ball ammunition were recovered from his possession.
In this connection, Sahidnagar Police has registered a case (214/2021) under Section 25 of the Arms Act and initiated an investigation.
As per reports, during the last one year, drive against illegal arms and ammunitions have been conducted, and the STF has alone seized as many as 31 firearms, 69 live ammunition and arrested several criminals.
