The statue of Acharya Harihar Das, a renowned freedom fighter, social reformer, and educationist, was unveiled at Acharya Harihar Park in Bhubaneswar on February 27, 2026.
The event was organised under the aegis of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department.
The unveiling coincided with Acharya Harihar Das’s birth anniversary. Bhubaneswar Ekamra MLA Babu Singh and Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das inaugurated the full‑length statue and paid floral tributes. They recalled Acharya Harihar’s contributions to society, education, and the freedom struggle, urging today’s youth to draw inspiration from his ideals.
Acharya Harihar Das played a pivotal role in India’s independence movement and dedicated his life to social service and education. Speakers at the event described him as a guiding light whose values continue to inspire generations.
Senior officials, including Deb Prasad Das, Principal Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, and Deputy Director Debayani Bhuyan, joined educationists, intellectuals, and social workers in offering homage. The gathering emphasised Acharya Harihar’s legacy as a symbol of sacrifice, service, and enlightenment.
