The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, has officially announced August 31 as the new date for the Special Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET), following the cancellation of the earlier exam due to a question paper leak.
According to the latest notification, the Special OTET will be conducted in two sittings. Paper-1 will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, while Paper-2 is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The decision comes after the July 20 exam was abruptly cancelled when identical handwritten and printed question papers surfaced on social media platforms, triggering widespread concern among aspirants.
The Special OTET is a crucial qualifying exam for in-service teachers seeking eligibility to teach Classes 1 to 8 in government-recognised schools across Odisha. Over 75,000 candidates were expected to appear in the previous session, which was called off just hours before commencement.
The Board has assured that enhanced security measures, including watermarking and QR coding of question papers, will be implemented to prevent further breaches. Authorities have also initiated a crime branch investigation, resulting in multiple arrests linked to the leak.
Candidates are advised to stay updated via the official BSE Odisha website and download their admit cards using their registration credentials.
