Following the heartbreaking demise of FM College student Soumyashree Bisi, the institution has declared a full-day closure today.
Classes have been suspended, and ongoing admissions for the third phase were put on hold, leaving several aspirants disappointed as they returned home.
However, newly appointed College Principal Firoz Kumar Padhi assured that a new admission date would soon be announced, attempting to ease growing concern among students and parents alike.
In response to the incident, an emergency high-level meeting was convened at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. Attendees included Deputy Chief Ministers, the Revenue Minister, multiple MLAs, and department secretaries from Higher Education, Health, and Women & Child Development. The session focused on addressing safety protocols and administrative accountability.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has sanctioned Rs 20 lakh in compassionate assistance for Soumyashree’s family. Meanwhile, Professor Sameer Sahu has been arrested, and Principal Ghosh has been suspended amid ongoing investigations.
