Sophia Culpo, model and younger sister of former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, is facing widespread criticism after posting a now-deleted TikTok video that many deemed racist.
In the clip, shared earlier in May 2025, Sophia was seen holding her newborn niece and captioned the video: “When the Culpo genes beat out the Asian genes.” She followed it with, “Say hi to my baby niece Lila!! She looks EXACTLY like my brother, even though she’s Filipino.”
The baby is the daughter of Sophia’s older brother Pete Culpo and his Filipino wife, Katie Trainor. Though the post was taken down shortly after going live, screenshots quickly circulated across platforms, sparking a wave of backlash.
Social media users on TikTok and Reddit condemned the remarks as racially insensitive and tone-deaf. Many described the comments as offensive, with one user writing, “Zero intelligence, zero self-awareness… deeply out of touch in 2025.” Another added, “I’d be livid if my sister-in-law said this about my child.”
Sophia Culpo is a known influencer and reality TV personality, having built a following through social media and family fame, especially after Olivia Culpo’s rise to stardom. She has appeared in shows like Only Murders in the Building: One Killer Question and walked the red carpet at the 49th Annual People’s Choice Awards in 2024.
