A tragic incident struck Atarang village under Siddhanai Panchayat in Asika block of Ganjam district when a son died during his father’s tenth-day ritual.

The sorrowful event cast a shadow of grief across the community.

On November 11, Uday Gouda of Atarang village passed away. His son Rajendra Gouda performed the purification rituals as per Hindu tradition. On Wednesday night, Rajendra complained of severe stomach pain. Family members rushed him to Asika hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The arrival of Rajendra’s body created a heart-wrenching atmosphere in the village. Residents expressed shock as the family faced the unimaginable situation of conducting both the father’s tenth-day ritual and the son’s funeral. Community members said such an incident had never occurred in the village’s history.

Rajendra was the only son of Uday Gouda. His sister is married, leaving Rajendra as the sole breadwinner of the family. He leaves behind his wife, two sons, and a daughter. Villagers voiced concern about the future of the three young children, who now face life without parental support.

The community urged the government to provide immediate assistance to the bereaved family. Villagers highlighted the urgent need for financial and social support to ensure the children’s survival and education.
