A social activist, Ghulam Rasool Magray, aged 45, was fatally shot by suspected terrorists at his residence in the Kandi Khas area late on Saturday.

The attack occurred inside his home, where gunfire erupted, leaving Magray critically injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with questions lingering over whether Magray’s activism made him a target or if his murder is part of a broader pattern of civilian violence in the region. His tragic death underscores the insecurity faced by civilians amidst ongoing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.

Magray was known for his contributions to society and his work to improve the lives of people in his community. His untimely death is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those who dare to advocate for change in conflict-torn areas.

Local authorities are appealing to the public for information regarding the attackers as investigations continue.
