Indian batter Smriti Mandhana has reclaimed her position at the top of the ICC women’s ODI batting rankings, overtaking South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt in the latest update on June 17.

Mandhana’s brilliant century in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka played a pivotal role in India’s victory, cementing her rise back to the No. 1 spot for the first time since 2019.

Mandhana’s 116 off 101 balls helped India secure a massive 97-run victory, earning her the Player of the Match title. The southpaw now holds 727 rating points, surpassing Wolvaardt and England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, who jointly rank second with 719 points each.

This achievement places Mandhana in an elite category of batters with the most hundreds in women’s ODIs. Her tally of 11 centuries now surpasses England’s Tammy Beaumont, with only Australia’s Meg Lanning (15 centuries) and New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (13 centuries) ahead of her.

Since 2024, Mandhana has been a dominant force in ODIs, accumulating 1260 runs from 21 innings with an impressive average of 60, including six centuries and five fifties. As India gears up for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against England, her form will be critical ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup, set to begin on September 30, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

India’s cricket fraternity has lauded Mandhana’s consistency and resilience, marking this as a significant milestone in her illustrious career. Fans eagerly anticipate her next performances as India continues its preparations for global cricketing challenges.
