Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has removed all wedding-related posts from her social media accounts, just a day after her wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal was postponed indefinitely. The shift from celebration to concern comes after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, experienced a sudden health emergency.
The wedding, originally scheduled for Sunday in Mandhana’s hometown of Sangli, was halted when her father developed symptoms of a potential heart issue during breakfast. According to her manager, Tuhin Mishra, his condition showed no signs of improvement, prompting the family to call an ambulance and take him to a hospital, where he is currently under observation.
Mishra confirmed that Mandhana, who shares a close bond with her father and often speaks about his influence on her cricketing journey, chose to postpone the ceremony until he makes a complete recovery. “Smriti is very clear — her father’s health comes first. She will think about the wedding later,” he said, requesting privacy for the family during this difficult period.
The couple had already begun a week-long celebration, completing ceremonies such as the Mehendi, Haldi, and Sangeet. Many of Mandhana’s India teammates — including Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma, Arundhati Reddy, Shivali Shinde and Richa Ghosh — participated in the festivities. Highlights included a fun “Bride Team vs Groom Team” cricket match and clips of Mandhana dancing with teammates, moments that fans rarely get to see from her private life.
Mandhana’s decision to delete all photos and videos from the celebrations — including her engagement posts — quickly caught public attention. While some wondered about the timing, most fans responded with empathy, offering support and wishing her father a speedy recovery.
Palash Muchhal, who also shared engagement photos and a proposal video filmed at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium — the venue where India lifted the Women’s World Cup weeks earlier with Mandhana playing a key role — still has all posts visible on his profile. Reports have also suggested that Muchhal’s own health has reportedly deteriorated slightly, though his posts remain intact.
