Indian women’s cricket team star Smriti Mandhana celebrated her haldi ceremony on Friday, surrounded by several of her World Cup-winning teammates. Mandhana is set to marry music composer Palash Muchhal on November 23.
Teammates join Mandhana on dance floor
Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh, Shivali Shinde, Radha Yadav, and Jemimah Rodrigues attended the ceremony, all dressed in shades of yellow as they danced alongside the bride. Clips from the event, shared widely on social media, showed the group enjoying wedding music and cheering for Mandhana.
Notable attendees also included Shwali Shinde—Mandhana’s teammate from the Ratnagiri Jets in the Women’s Maharashtra Premier League—and Shreyanka Patil, her Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate.
Young opener Shafali Verma posted a video of Mandhana dancing with the caption: “Ladki Wale.”
A viral stadium proposal
Mandhana and Palash Muchhal have been sharing glimpses of their pre-wedding celebrations across social media. Recently, Palash posted a viral reel showing his stadium proposal at DY Patil Stadium, where he went down on one knee on the pitch.
Smriti, dressed in a maroon outfit, appeared stunned as Palash slipped a diamond ring on her finger.
The caption read: “She said yes ❤️💍.”
The video sparked massive reactions online, with congratulatory messages pouring in from celebrities across cricket and Bollywood. Hardik Pandya’s ex-wife Natasa Stankovic also commented: “Omg omg omg, congratulations you guys.”
How their relationship began
Smriti and Palash reportedly met in 2019, keeping their relationship private until 2024. The couple will tie the knot on November 23.
Sources have also indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a congratulatory message to the couple.
Mandhana’s Haldi video with teammates wins hearts
Ahead of her wedding, Mandhana posted a video featuring teammates from the Women’s World Cup-winning squad, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, and rising talent Shreyanka Patil.
The group danced to “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya” from Lage Raho Munna Bhai, ending with Mandhana proudly showcasing her engagement ring. The clip has received widespread appreciation from fans.
