Railway Police (GRP) arrested six notorious dacoits from Bhubaneswar Railway Station on Friday, foiling their plan to loot passengers on a moving train.
Police said the accused were caught with a pistol and several deadly weapons while preparing for the robbery. The swift action prevented a major threat to passengers’ lives and property.
Investigations revealed that the arrested men have multiple cases of dacoity registered against them in different police stations across the state. Authorities confirmed that the gang had been under surveillance, and their arrest marks a significant breakthrough in curbing railway-related crimes.
GRP officials stated that the operation highlights their vigilance in monitoring criminal activities at railway stations and trains. They added that the crackdown has boosted passenger safety and deterred organised gangs from targeting commuters.
The seized weapons have been sent for forensic examination, and further investigation is underway to trace other associates of the gang.
