Six individuals have been arrested in connection with a mob lynching that occurred on September 3 in Kendeijuri village under Tileibani block of Deogarh district.
The violence was reportedly triggered by allegations surrounding beef consumption and slaughter.
According to police reports, a group of villagers launched a coordinated attack on Kishore Meher of Terendakata village and Gautam Nayak of Kendeijuri while they were allegedly involved in beef preparation along with others. The assault led to the death of Kishore Meher at the scene, while Gautam sustained serious injuries.
Following the incident, Reamal Police registered a case and initiated a scientific investigation at the crime site. On September 5, six accused were taken into custody and produced in court. The arrested individuals have been identified as Prabhat Sahu, Ghanshyam Pradhan, Gajanan Kalet, Kumaramani Kalo, Suresh Kisan—all from Kendeijuri—and Dipak Behera from Mahendrapur village.
The court denied bail, and all six accused have been remanded to judicial custody. The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining communal harmony in the region.
