A crucial meeting of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money has commenced today at the Cuttack residence of Justice Arijit Pasayat.
The session is being held under his chairmanship and includes the participation of top-level officials from both the Central and State governments.
The SIT, constituted to investigate and curb the flow of unaccounted wealth within and outside India, is holding this session as part of its preparation for submitting its eighth interim report to the Supreme Court. Justice Pasayat, serving as the Vice-Chairman of the SIT, is spearheading the strategic discussion.
Key topics on the agenda include the alarming spread of narcotics, the surge in online financial fraud, and the widening scope of economic offences. With inputs from law enforcement and intelligence agencies, the discussion aims to sharpen policy actions and improve inter-agency coordination.
The meeting holds special significance in light of recent financial scams and evolving digital threats, signalling the government’s renewed emphasis on tackling illicit wealth and cybercrime.
