World No. 2 Jannik Sinner powered his way into the semifinals of the China Open 2025, defeating Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, in just 79 minutes.

The Italian will next face third seed Alex de Minaur, against whom he holds a commanding 10-0 record.

Sinner breezed through the first set but faced resistance in the second, with Marozsan briefly leading 5-4. However, Sinner responded with a flawless finish, winning the next three games and dropping only one point in the process.

“I’m very happy with today’s performance,” said Sinner, who is chasing his third consecutive semifinal appearance at the tournament.

In the women’s draw, top seed Iga Swiatek advanced to the round of 16 after her opponent, Camila Osorio, retired hurt following a 6-0 first set. Swiatek will next face American Emma Navarro.

Other notable results include Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine and Mirra Andreeva of Russia reaching the last 16, setting up a potential semifinal clash. Andreeva defeated Spain’s Jessica Bouzas 6-4, 6-1, while Kostyuk overcame Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-2.

The tournament continues to showcase high-caliber tennis, with rising stars and seasoned champions battling for supremacy in Beijing.
