In a significant step towards deepening bilateral ties, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held high-level discussions with Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Mr Simon Wong, at Lok Seva Bhavan today.

The meeting focused on accelerating investments and turning existing MoUs into on-ground success stories, positioning Singapore as a key partner in Odisha’s ambitious growth journey.

Chief Minister Majhi described Singapore as a “natural partner” for the state’s twin visions — Samruddha Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047. He highlighted Singapore’s proven expertise in urban planning, clean energy, port management, technology, fintech, and insurtech as perfect matches for Odisha’s development priorities.

“We are creating a business-friendly environment with single-window clearance and rapid decision-making,” Majhi said. “Singapore investors will receive complete facilitation.” He proposed the creation of a Structured Engagement Mechanism to fast-track investment proposals and ensure timely implementation of the eight MoUs signed during Singapore President Dr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s visit to Odisha in January 2025.

The Chief Minister also invited a Singapore business delegation to visit Odisha to explore opportunities in green energy, urban development, and skill enhancement — particularly in fintech and insurtech to empower the state’s youth.

Mr. Simon Wong congratulated CM Majhi on completing two successful years in office and reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to supporting Odisha’s progress. “We look forward to working together closely on this shared journey of growth,” he said.

Senior officials present included Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, and Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Dev. From the Singapore side, Consul-General Mr Cheong Ming Foong and other senior diplomats attended the meeting.

The discussions mark a renewed push to transform economic cooperation into tangible outcomes, leveraging Singapore’s global strengths to accelerate Odisha’s emergence as an investment destination
