New Delhi: A good skin-care routine can give you glowing & healthy skin. Here are some home hacks that may help promote healthy skin.
Stay hydrated
There are many overrated tips out there, but this is definitely not one. Water is THE magic potion when it comes to skincare. Staying hydrated ensures that your skin is producing less oil and it also has the base to release toxins from your body. Lack of moisture can lead to toxins being trapped in your skin, hence leading to a lifeless and damaged look. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to earn yourself supple and glowing skin.
Choose the right cleanser
Washing your face twice a day is the bare minimum you can do for your skin. However, what you wash it with is just as important as how often you wash it. Choose a cleanser depending on your skin type. If you have oily skin, opt for a gel- or foam-based cleanser. Dry skin works best with cream-based cleansers. If you have sensitive skin, avoid the ones with a lot of chemicals.
Always wear sunscreen
The sun’s ultraviolet radiation can cause more lasting skin damage than you would imagine. Apart from sunburns, excessive exposure can also lead to quick aging and increase risks of skin cancer. This is why you should always apply a layer of sunscreen as the last step in your skin regimen whenever you step out. Again, pick out a sunscreen based on your skin type.
Remove makeup before bed religiously
It goes without saying that you shouldn’t go to sleep with a thick layer of goo on your face. Leaving makeup on overnight can clog your pores, irritate your skin, and lead to breakouts. It is not enough to wash your face alone. Use a good-quality makeup remover if you use foundation or other products.
Avoid packaged food
Packaged food is highly processed and often contains cheap fats like refined vegetable oils that can be disastrous for your skin. As far as possible, stay away from anything that comes in a packet. Fresh food and grains are nutritious and a great gift for your skin.
Limit coffee and alcohol consumption
Both coffee and alcohol are dehydrators, meaning they rob your body of the magic potion mentioned in point one. Additionally, coffee also produces stress hormones in the body, which can then cause breakouts. However, external caffeine application is said to do wonders for toning and firming skin. Maybe that’s the switch worth considering!
