Mayurbhanj: Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district woke up to the coldest morning of the winter season this year as the minimum temperature plummeted to 3 degree Celsius on Sunday.
The low temperature has also caused light frost in some areas of Similipal. The area has crossed all the records this year.
The interior and hilly areas of the district are witnessing a significant drop in temperature. The upper Barakamuda area also recorded a minimum temperature of 3 degree Celsius.
As per reports, the severe cold wave condition in Similipal area is also affecting Baripada. It is becoming difficult for the residents of Baripada to come out of their houses due to the chilling weather.
Baripada witnessed a minimum temperature of 13 degree Celsius on Friday. The streets wore a deserted look even during the morning hour on Sunday due to the biting cold.
“We are suffering due to unbearable cold wave conditions in Baripada. It is becoming difficult to step out of our houses due to severe cold. Even, it is getting difficult to come out of home till 8 am,” said a local resident.
“We have been experiencing severe cold in Baripada for the last two days. Even, we have stopped our morning work as stepping out of our houses is getting difficult,” said another local resident.
