The State Investigation Agency (SIA) raided 20 locations across four districts in South Kashmir on Sunday.
These searches were linked to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967 case concerning individuals allegedly sharing sensitive information about security forces via encrypted messaging apps.
The SIA, akin to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Jammu and Kashmir, stated that suspects were actively involved in online radical propaganda at the behest of terrorist commanders from Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Authorities believe sleeper cells in Kashmir were operating under direct orders from handlers in Pakistan, spreading anti-India narratives to incite public disorder and communal discord.
Investigators have detained multiple individuals and reportedly seized incriminating material during the operation. The agency, established in 2021 to coordinate counterterrorism investigations, continues to probe the scope of this network.
