The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month award for July, spotlighting three exceptional performers: India’s Shubman Gill, England’s Ben Stokes, and South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder.
Leading India in his debut Test series, Shubman Gill delivered a masterclass in batting during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. With 567 runs in three July Tests at an average of 94.50, including a historic 430-run match at Edgbaston, Gill not only guided India to a 2-2 series draw but also broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record for most runs by an Indian captain in a five-Test series.
England’s Ben Stokes, known for his all-round brilliance, played a pivotal role in England’s resilience throughout the series, while Wiaan Mulder stunned the cricketing world with an unbeaten 367 against Zimbabwe — the highest individual score in South African Test history.
The ICC praised Gill’s composure at No.4, noting his seamless transition into a role once held by Virat Kohli. His performances have been hailed as a coming-of-age moment in Test cricket, earning admiration from pundits and fans alike.
The winner of the Player of the Month award will be announced next week.
