Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been honoured with the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for March 2025, following his stellar performances in India’s triumphant Champions Trophy campaign.
The middle-order batsman outshone fellow nominees Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand to claim this prestigious accolade.
A Month of Heroics on the Field
Iyer played a pivotal role in India’s title-winning run, finishing as the team’s highest run-scorer with 243 runs across the tournament. His consistent performances provided stability in the middle overs, ensuring India’s dominance on the global stage.
Among his standout innings was a 79-run knock against New Zealand, which helped India post a competitive first-innings total on a challenging pitch. His 45-run contribution in the semi-final against Australia was crucial to India’s successful chase, and he remained composed in the final, scoring 48 runs to guide India to victory once again against New Zealand.
India’s Back-to-Back Wins in ICC Awards
This achievement marks India’s second consecutive win in the ICC Player of the Month category, following Shubman Gill’s victory in February 2025. Iyer expressed his gratitude for receiving the award, acknowledging his teammates, coaches, and fans for their unwavering support.
“Winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award is truly special,” said Iyer. “Lifting the Champions Trophy was a dream come true, and this recognition makes it even more memorable. I want to thank my teammates, coaching staff, and, most importantly, our passionate fans who always push us forward.”
Looking Ahead
With his exceptional performances, Shreyas Iyer continues to solidify his reputation as one of India’s premier middle-order batsmen. As India prepares for upcoming international fixtures, his form and resilience will be key in their pursuit of further success.
