Popular actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout performance in the iconic 2002 remix song “Kaanta Laga”, passed away late Friday in Mumbai. She was 42.
According to sources, Shefali was rushed to a hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, but was declared dead on arrival. The cause of her death has not been disclosed by the family, leaving fans and the entertainment industry in shock and grief.
Shefali catapulted to instant fame with Kaanta Laga, a music video that became a pop culture sensation in the early 2000s. With her bold look and confident screen presence, she became one of the first true viral stars of the Indian music video era.
She later appeared in the Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) alongside Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra, and further solidified her place in the entertainment industry through reality TV. Her stint on Bigg Boss 13 earned her admiration for her strong opinions, grace, and clarity. She also featured in Nach Baliye seasons 5 and 7, with her husband Parag Tyagi, whom she married in 2015.
