Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer, Dr. Pramod Kumar Meherda today took the charge as the new Commissioner-Cum-Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Development. On this occasion, several officials and staff of the WCD department welcomed the new Commissioner.
After taking charge, Dr. Meherda held preliminary discussions with all senior officials on various schemes, programs and action plans of the department. In particular, he was briefed on the implementation of nutrition programs, Mamata Yojana, Integrated Child Development Scheme, Anganwadi Services, etc. The Secretary commended the department for its successful implementation of many important programs, even in difficult circumstances.
The Department of Women and Child Development is an important department of the state government. At the grassroots level, multiple programs for women and children are being made available. Meherda suggested the officials and staff to make full use of their strength and abilities for the overall development of women and children in the state through the Department.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Department, Social Welfare Arvind Agrawal, Additional Chief Secretar, Joint Secretary and other senior officials and consultants. It may noted here that Dr. Meherda also serves as the Commissioner-Cum-Secretary to Odisha Governor.
