A brewing controversy has put the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) under intense scrutiny as allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation surface against corporator Amaresh Jena.
The incident has prompted Khurda district BJD president Ashok Chandra Panda to take a rare public stance, vowing to escalate the matter to the party’s disciplinary committee.
The allegations against Jena have sparked outrage, with Panda describing the case as “sensitive” and emphasising the party’s commitment to women’s safety and respect. “We will take this to the disciplinary committee, and the law will follow its course,” Panda stated in a video address.
Panda’s assurance of legal action and priority on “nari suraksha” (women’s safety) is seen as an attempt to mitigate the damage, but scepticism remains.
