In a shocking incident, senior BJP leader and advocate Pitabasa Panda was fatally shot by two unidentified assailants outside his residence in Brahma Nagar on October 6, 2025.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, riding a motorcycle, approached Panda as he was stepping out of his home and fired multiple rounds at close range before fleeing the scene.
Panda, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, with initial investigations pointing towards possible political motives or personal enmity.
