The revered Jagannath Temple in Puri is once again under scrutiny following a serious security breach that has ignited public concern.
A youth from Maharashtra, identified as Vaibhav Dure Patil, reportedly captured photographs inside the temple premises—where photography is strictly prohibited—and posted them on Instagram. The images quickly went viral, prompting outrage from devotees and authorities alike.
This incident is the latest in a troubling series of breaches at the temple. Just days earlier, a drone was spotted flying over the Srimandir premises, violating the no-fly zone designation. In early August, two separate cases involved youths from Gujarat and West Bengal attempting to smuggle spy cameras hidden in spectacles into the temple.
These repeated violations have raised serious questions about the effectiveness of current security protocols. Devotees and local leaders are demanding stricter surveillance, enhanced screening measures, and accountability from temple authorities to preserve the sanctity of one of India’s most sacred sites.
