Balasore: Ingress of sea water to seaside villages in Talsara region of Jaleswar due to the impact of Cyclone Yaas in Talsara region of Jaleswar.
The tide-height of the sea at Chandipur is expected to rise upto 4 metres under the impact of Cyclone and also the full oon.
A number of mud-walled houses caved in these villages. Many fishermen moved their boats and other fish-gears to safety and abstained from fishing. However, the heavy tides caused damage to many boats.
Though people were evacuated yesterday, some people who refused to leave their houses arestated to be in a state of panic.
Heavy rain and strong winds have started battering the coastal districts of West Bengal since early morning on Wednesday as very severe Cyclone Yaas made a landfall around 9am.
The weather department has also predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements regarding Cyclone Yaas and said that every life is precious thus all possible steps should be taken to protect lives.
