India’s top men’s doubles badminton pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, have secured a place in the semifinals of the BWF World Championships 2025, guaranteeing themselves at least a bronze medal.
The World No. 9 duo delivered a commanding performance against Malaysia’s World No. 2 team, Aaron Chia and Wooi Yik Soh, winning 21-12, 21-19 in just 43 minutes. This victory not only avenges their loss to the same pair at the Paris Olympics quarterfinals but also marks their second medal at the World Championships, following their bronze in Tokyo 2022.
The match saw the Indians dominate early with aggressive rallies and strategic net play. Despite a late comeback attempt by the Malaysians, Satwik and Chirag held their nerve to close out the match. They now advance to face China’s Li Yiu and Bo Yang Chen in the semifinals.
This win continues India’s streak of medaling at every BWF World Championships since 2011, reinforcing the country’s growing stature in global badminton.
