Senior IPS officer Satish Golcha has officially taken charge as the new Commissioner of Police, Delhi, replacing SBK Singh, whose tenure lasted just 21 days.
The Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed Golcha’s appointment via an official order, citing approval from the Competent Authority.
Golcha, a 1992-batch officer from the AGMUT cadre, previously served as Director General (Prisons), Delhi. Known for his firm leadership and operational acumen, he has held several key positions in the Delhi Police, including DCP, Joint Commissioner, and Special Commissioner. His role as Special CP (Intelligence) during the northeast Delhi riots was a defining moment in his career.
Before his stint in Delhi’s prison administration, Golcha served as the Director General of Police in Arunachal Pradesh. His appointment signals a return to active law enforcement leadership in the capital, with expectations of bolstering law and order amid evolving urban challenges.
The abrupt transition from SBK Singh, who was given temporary charge on August 1, has raised eyebrows in administrative circles, though no official reason has been cited for the short tenure.
