In a major step towards urban transformation, the Odisha Government has proposed an outlay of ₹408 crore under the Samriddhi City Scheme, which aims to create vibrant, future-ready cities across the State.

Chief Minister has presented the budget for the year 2025-26 in the Legislative Assembly. This budget is not just a mere presentation of a few numbers but a powerful and decisive step towards preparing Odisha for the future.

The Odisha Government has proposed an outlay of ₹408 crore for the Samriddhi City Scheme to build future-ready cities.

The initiative focuses on economic hubs, smart city schemes and holistic city development, which will create new opportunities for growth, innovation and prosperity.

Under this ambitious plan, the government plans to:
 Enhance urban infrastructure – Improve roads, drainage systems and public spaces for better liveability.

 Economic hub development – Strengthen commercial areas and industrial clusters to boost employment and investment.

 Smart Towns plan – Implement sustainable and technology-driven solutions for efficient city management.

 Green and resilient cities – Promote environment-friendly projects and climate-friendly city planning.

 Community-centric growth – Encourage participatory governance and citizen-driven urban initiatives.

Since cities are the engines of economic growth, the Prosperous Cities plan aims to increase employment, attract investment and improve the quality of life of urban dwellers. The plan is aligned with Odisha’s long-term vision for sustainable urbanization and inclusive development.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized that “This initiative reflects our commitment to create vibrant urban centres that support economic prosperity and sustainable living. Through smart planning and strong infrastructure, Odisha is setting a new benchmark in urban governance.”

The investment of ₹408 crore will be strategically utilized in diverse cities, ensuring balanced growth and equitable development. The government will soon finalize the specific project details, timelines and beneficiary cities under the scheme.

The Prosperous Cities Scheme is Odisha’s flagship urban development initiative, which focuses on economic revival, infrastructure enhancement, smart urban governance and climate resilience. With a people-centric approach, the scheme aims to create prosperous cities that are not only modern but also inclusive and sustainable.
