Police arrested a person for involvement in an ATM theft at the SBI Sambalpur Bazar Branch.
The accused has been identified as Suman Sahu (25).
The theft occurred on March 11, 2025, at 5:13 AM, when the accused, an employee of a cash remittance service agency, forcefully opened the ATM chest door and stole cash.
The incident came to light when Manoj Kumar Mahanada, the Branch Manager of SBI Sambalpur Branch, received an alert message from the E-Surveillance team in Hyderabad. The alert, received at 7:05 AM on the same day, indicated unauthorized access to the ATM chest door. Following a written report by the branch manager, police launched an investigation.
During the investigation, police seized cash amounting to Rs.19,64,300/- along with one black Realme mobile phone, one Samsung mobile phone, and a screwdriver used in the theft. Further investigation and verification are ongoing to gather more details about the incident.
