The latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings have delivered a double dose of headline-making shifts. India’s Rohit Sharma has reclaimed the No.1 spot among ODI batters, overtaking New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell after the Kiwi missed crucial matches against the West Indies.

Rohit’s consistency and stature as a two-time T20 World Cup winner have also been recognised, with his appointment as the tournament ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza has etched his name into history by becoming the No.1-ranked T20I all-rounder for the first time in his 13-year international career. Raza’s explosive batting—including a joint second-fastest T20I century off just 33 balls—and economical bowling in the ongoing tri-series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan propelled him past Pakistan’s Saim Ayub.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz and Sahibzada Farhan also made notable gains, while Babar Azam climbed five places in the T20I batting charts. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway improved their ODI standings, and West Indies skipper Shai Hope rose to eighth after a match-winning century.

In Test cricket, Australia’s Travis Head surged to sixth among batters following his match-winning knock against England, while Mitchell Starc climbed to fifth among bowlers with a career-high rating. Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, and Mominul Haque all advanced after their victory over Ireland, with Taijul Islam rising to 15th among bowlers. England’s Ben Stokes also moved to second among Test all-rounders, just behind India’s Ravindra Jadeja.

These reshuffles highlight the dynamic nature of world cricket, where veterans continue to shine and emerging stars are rewriting the rankings.
