India’s former captain and two-time T20 World Cup winner, Rohit Sharma, has been appointed as the tournament ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The event will be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March, 2026.
Rohit, who led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title, retired from the shortest format after ending the nation’s 11-year ICC trophy drought. He finished his T20I career with 4231 runs at an average of 32.01 and a strike rate of 140.89.
His standout performances include a blistering 92 off 41 balls against Australia in the Super Eights and a crucial 57 off 39 in the semi-final against England in 2024. Rohit also played a pivotal role in India’s historic 2007 triumph, scoring unbeaten knocks in the Super Eights and the final.
Speaking on his new role, Rohit said he was proud to be associated with the tournament once again, this time as ambassador, and looked forward to showcasing India’s hospitality to the cricketing world.
