Lifeguards at Puri Beach thwarted a robbery attempt on Friday and recovered Rs 5,500 allegedly stolen from tourists.
According to reports, three tourists were approached by a woman who offered to fetch liquor for ₹500. After consuming the alcohol, the tourists lost consciousness on the beach. Seizing the moment, the woman and her male accomplice allegedly stole ₹5,500 from their belongings.
Fortunately, lifeguards stationed nearby noticed the suspicious behavior and intervened immediately. Both suspects were apprehended on the spot, and the stolen cash was recovered.
The lifeguards’ prompt action has earned widespread praise from locals and visitors alike, reinforcing their role not just in water safety but also in protecting tourists from criminal activity.
