Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended Dipti Ranjan Mohapatra, a Revenue Inspector (RI) stationed in Kendrapati under Astaranga Tahasil in Puri district, along with his associate, Sampad Kumar Das, for accepting a bribe of ₹7,000.
The amount was allegedly demanded for furnishing a Homestead Enquiry Report, a crucial document required for land sale processes.
The complainant had been seeking the document for a month, but the accused duo repeatedly demanded a bribe to complete the process. Unable to resolve the matter, the complainant turned to the Odisha Vigilance Directorate for assistance.
On March 25, 2025, Vigilance officials laid a successful trap and arrested both individuals while accepting the bribe. The entire amount was recovered, and chemical tests confirmed their involvement in the transaction. Subsequent searches were conducted at the RI’s residence and office.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigations are underway.
