The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir on Tuesday convicted a retired Assistant Tax Collector in a vigilance corruption case and sentenced him to undergo a rigorous imprisonment of 2 years.
The convict has been identified as Sibaram Sahu, Former Asst. Tax Collector (Retired), Subarnapur Municipality, Subarnapur.
Sahu was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance, for misappropriation of Govt. money collected towards water supply connection fees, construction fees, licence fees for cabins, weekly market fees, and parking fees etc of the Municipality from different taxpayers by issuing money receipts and not depositing the same in the Daily Collection Register of Municipality as per Orissa Municipality Rule-1953.
Sahu was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and a fine of Rs 10,000.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Sibaram Sahu following his conviction.
