Popular Odia music director and singer Abhijit Majumdar has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar after his health deteriorated at a private hospital in Cuttack.
Majumdar, known for his iconic compositions in Ollywood films and devotional music, was admitted last Sunday due to a sharp drop in sodium levels. Despite treatment at two private facilities, his condition showed little improvement, prompting doctors to refer him to AIIMS for advanced care on Wednesday evening.
Family members remain at his side, while several members of the Odia film fraternity, including actors Pradyumna Lenka and Sritam Das, visited him before the transfer.
“He was not able to eat or sit up on his own, and his sodium levels were not stabilising… we are praying for his speedy recovery,” said Sritam Das.
Majumdar, a leading name in the Odia music industry for over two decades, has created some of the most memorable soundtracks for Odia cinema. Fans and colleagues across the state have expressed concern, flooding social media with messages of support.
AIIMS doctors are yet to release an official medical bulletin. Further tests will determine the next course of treatment.
