The country is celebrating the birth anniversary of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru today. The day is observed every year as Children’s Day. He was popularly known as Chacha Nehru and was known to have a special love for children.
Chacha Nehru graduated with an honours degree in natural science in 1910 from Harrow and Trinity College in Cambridge. Post completing his graduation, he moved to London to study law at Inner Temple Inn. Nehru wrote well-read books like Letters from a Father to His Daughter, Autobiography, and Discovery of India.
Nehru remains India’s longest-serving prime minister. He was prime minister between August 1947 and May 1964. He passed away on May 27, 1964.
