Relief and restoration operations across Aska have been significantly escalated on Saturday, October 31, 2026, following the administrative disruption and coastal impact caused by Cyclone ‘Arnab’.
The overall situation in the Ganjam district township is rapidly improving through multi-departmental coordination aimed at restoring public normalcy, informed Ganjam Collector and District Magistrate Shri Keerthi Vasan V.
Traffic Management and Essential Supply Mobilisation
Key transit bottlenecks across Aska have been largely cleared, allowing relief convoys to operate seamlessly across affected blocks:
- Logistics & Transit: All heavy vehicles parked along major arteries were relocated by Friday afternoon to free up road width for emergency personnel. Bus services are expected to achieve full operational capacity by Saturday morning.
- Last-Mile Distribution: A dedicated fleet comprising 20 auto-rickshaws and 10 tractors was deployed on Friday evening to transport essential commodities into residential sectors.
- Drinking Water Relief: Ten drinking water tankers alongside 30,000 packaged water bottles were distributed through Friday evening. Operations are being scaled up to deploy 30 to 35 water tankers starting Saturday morning.
- Food & Emergency Lighting: Additional Aska portable light sets have been deployed across key public intersections with local Medium Irrigation (MI) engineers holding emergency fuel reserves on standby. Cooked meals continue to be distributed continuously throughout the day.
State Oversight & Administrative Duration
Odisha Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg is personally monitoring the field situation in direct coordination with Collector Keerthi Vasan V to ensure the rapid execution of relief measures.
Power utility TPSODL (TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited) has committed to restoring grid electricity across major portions of the town by Saturday morning. The Ganjam district administration confirmed that structured relief and support arrangements will remain operational for at least one week or until complete normalcy is achieved across the region.
