Manipur: Randeep Hooda and his partner Lin Laisharam tied the knot in Imphal, Manipal on November 29. The two got married in authentic Meiti traditions, adorned in Manipuri wedding attire.
While Randeep Hooda was clad in white wearing a cotton dhoti teamed with a kurta, a shawl, and turban (kokyet), all in pristine white, Lin wore gold jewels with a Potloi or Polloi, which is a skirt typical of Manipur that resembles a cylinder and is made of bamboo and thick fabric. It is often adorned with satin and velvet cloth and embellished with jewels and glitter.

The newlywed had taken to social media to announce their wedding just a few days ago. “Taking a leaf out of the Mahabharata where Arjuna married Manipuri Warrior Princess Chitrangada, we are getting married with the blessings of our families and friends. As we embark on this journey, we seek your blessings and love for this union of cultures, for which we are forever indebted and grateful.”
While talking about the wedding to the media, the Bollywood actor felt it would be respectful to get married following the bride’s traditions. He also said: “I love that we’re taking our friendship forward and becoming family…. We have been talking about Manipuri culture for a long time… Yes, it’s East meets West; it’s like a traditional or cultural exchange… I am praying for a happy future filled with lots of kids and abundance.”
