Rajouri’s Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Raj Kumar Thappa was tragically killed early Saturday morning when a Pakistani shell struck his residence amid intense cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, the shell hit Thappa’s home around 5:30 AM, shortly after he stepped inside following multiple explosions nearby.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the death in a post on X, calling it a “devastating loss” and remembering Thappa as a dedicated public servant who was actively engaged in administrative duties until the previous evening.

“We have lost a dedicated officer. He accompanied the Deputy CM on Friday and attended a meeting I chaired. Today, his house was hit by Pakistani shelling. I’m deeply shocked,” Abdullah said.

The shelling is part of escalating military aggression from Pakistan, with loud explosions reported across Srinagar, Jammu, Rajouri, and Udhampur early Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military alleged that India struck three of its airbases, but offered no proof during an urgent press conference.
