Odisha Vigilance apprehended Md. Firoz Khan, an accountant at the Block Education Office (BEO) in Rajkanika, Kendrapara district, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.
The bribe was reportedly sought in exchange for processing a bill of ₹1.93 lakh and releasing the pending payment for a Self-Help Group (SHG) that supplied school uniforms to local schools.
The tainted money was recovered, and searches are ongoing at locations linked to the accused. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigations are in progress.
