Rajeev Shukla, the current Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is set to become the acting president of the board in July.
Sources report that Shukla will assume the role after the incumbent president, Roger Binny, reaches the age of 70 on July 19.
Shukla, 65, will initially serve as acting president for a three-month period. With the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September, coinciding with his 66th birthday, he could potentially stand for election as full-time president.
Binny, who was elected BCCI president in October 2022, has led the board through notable achievements, including India’s triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He also played a pivotal role in launching the Women’s Premier League (WPL), expanding opportunities in women’s cricket.
During his tenure, Binny prioritised strengthening domestic cricket with better incentives, pay structures, and senior players’ active participation. His leadership contributed to India’s sustained success on the global stage.
As Shukla steps into this interim role, the cricket fraternity watches closely to see how his leadership will shape BCCI’s future.
