To uphold cleanliness standards at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), under Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway, fined 581 individuals in March 2025 for spitting and littering.
This initiative led to a total collection of Rs 1,17,100 in fines, reflecting a strong commitment to maintaining hygiene across the station.
To tackle the issues of spitting and littering, a Special Task Force has been formed to enforce regulations and promote awareness among passengers. The task force collaborates with Station Managers, Ticket Collectors, RPF, and officials from the Commercial and Operating Departments. Additionally, a Special Campaign has been launched, which includes public announcements, posters, banners, and media outreach to educate travelers on the significance of cleanliness.
Railway staff are empowered to levy fines for violations, including improper waste disposal, spitting, and other activities that breach cleanliness norms. This initiative emphasizes not only compliance but also public health, striving to create a cleaner environment for all passengers.
East Coast Railway has extended its vigilance across all stations within its jurisdiction, with a focus on accountability from station management. The administration reminds all passengers to utilize designated dustbins and facilities provided within the station premises, underscoring the role of collective responsibility in maintaining a hygienic railway environment.
