Odisha Vigilance has arrested Sri Chitta Ranjan Mohanty, Managing Director of Raiboga LAMPCS Ltd., Kuarmunda Block, Sundargarh District, for misappropriating government funds amounting to Rs. 40.68 lakhs.

The funds were allegedly misused by showing fake excess expenditure in the Day Book of Raiboga LAMPCS during the financial years 2019-2020 and 2023-2024.

The investigation revealed discrepancies in the records maintained by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sundargarh District Central Co-operative (SDCC) Bank Ltd., Sundargarh Branch. Letters issued by the CEO had initially demanded recovery of Rs. 43.02 lakhs from Mohanty, but further verification by Vigilance officers corrected the amount to Rs. 40.68 lakhs due to calculation errors.

Mohanty failed to deposit the misappropriated amount or provide supporting documents for the excess expenditure, leading to charges of criminal misconduct and wrongful loss to the government exchequer. He is being forwarded to the Court of Hon’ble Special Judge Vigilance, Sundargarh.

A case has been registered against Mohanty under Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No.6 dated 28.03.2025, invoking sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, and the Indian Penal Code.
