Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the BJP following the tragic death of a student in Odisha who had raised her voice against sexual harassment.
Terming the incident as a “murder committed by the system,” Gandhi accused the BJP-led government of shielding the accused and silencing the victim.
In a strongly worded statement, Gandhi said, “The death of a daughter fighting for justice in Odisha is not a suicide, but a murder orchestrated by the BJP system. The brave student who stood up against sexual exploitation was repeatedly threatened, harassed, and humiliated instead of being protected. Those meant to safeguard her dignity ended up breaking her spirit.”
He further added, “Just like every time, the BJP system protected the culprits, forcing an innocent daughter to set herself on fire. This is not just a failure—this is an organised crime.”
Drawing parallels with incidents in Manipur, Gandhi said, “Whether it’s Odisha or Manipur, daughters of India are burning, breaking, and dying. And Prime Minister Modi remains silent. India does not need your silence, it demands answers. The daughters of this country deserve safety and justice.”
