Indian badminton icon PV Sindhu, a two‑time Olympic medallist, faced a harrowing ordeal in Dubai after an explosion near the international airport disrupted her travel plans.
Sindhu, en route to Birmingham for the prestigious All England Open 2026, was stranded as flight operations were suspended amid escalating tensions in the MiddleEast.

Sindhu described the situation as “extremely tense and scary,” sharing updates on social media about smoke, debris, and confusion inside the airport. Her coach was forced to seek safety as explosions were heard close to the terminal. The Indian High Commission has stepped in to assist her and other stranded passengers.
The incident comes as the US–Israel conflict with Iran triggered missile attacks across the region, leaving Dubai among the affected areas.
Sindhu’s participation in the upcoming tournament now hangs in uncertainty, though she has reassured fans that she is safe despite the frightening circumstances.
