Puri: Puri MP and BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra has proposed making the revered ‘Abadha’ Mahaprasad of Srimandir available at major railway stations across Odisha. This proposal aims to provide devotees with easier access to the sacred offerings of the Jagannath Temple, even if they are unable to visit Puri.
During his address to the Parliament, Patra suggested that the Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, explore the feasibility of this initiative in collaboration with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and other stakeholders, including temple priests and the Puri Gajapati Maharaja. The proposal includes setting up distribution centers at key railway hubs such as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Balasore.
Patra emphasized that many travelers passing through Odisha wish to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath but are often unable to do so due to time constraints and other commitments. By making the Mahaprasad available at railway stations, these devotees can still partake in the spiritual experience and bring the holy offerings back home.
Currently, the ‘Abadha’ Mahaprasad is only available at Ananda Bazar within the Jagannath Temple premises. This initiative is expected to extend the reach of the temple’s sacred offerings, allowing more people to connect with the spiritual heritage of Puri Jagannath Dham.
The proposal has been well-received by the public, with many expressing their support for the initiative. It is seen as a step towards making the spiritual and cultural essence of Odisha more accessible to a broader audience.
